RV Insurance in California

Don't put your RV at risk, purchase specialized coverage to protect it. RV insurance is different from other vehicle insurance in a number of ways. This type of insurance covers things an auto insurance policy would miss. Purchasing the right protection will keep you and your RV, covered in the event of loss or damage.

RV Insurance in California Covers:

  1. Replacement in case of a total loss: Total loss replacement covers you during the first five model years. Your RV will be replaced with a similar vehicle, even if the replacement RV costs more than your original.
  2. Personal belongings replacement: While auto policies typically cover only a limited amount of personal belongings in a vehicle, an RV policy will give you the option to replace all of your belongings in the event they are destroyed. Speak with Allegheny Pacific Insurance Services, Inc. to decide which limits are best for your situation.
  3. 'Fulltime' liability: When an RV becomes your home, things that might be covered by a homeowner's policy now need to be covered by your RV insurance policy. 'Fulltime' insurance simply refers to the fact that you now live in your RV 'full time'. With fulltime liability, you are covered if someone slips and falls inside your home (your RV); make sure to ask your independent insurance agents if you are also covered inside an RV camp (with some policies this is automatic). This type of coverage will provide emergency treatment and medical expenses for those who are injured inside or around your RV.
  4. Campsite liability: This is separate from fulltime liability but similar. It protects those who are in their RV for just a short time each year; for example, those who travel in their RV on vacation.
  5. Emergency coverage: Emergency coverage will reimburse your expenses in the event your RV needs to be repaired and you must live outside of it during that time. This policy only takes effect if your RV is a certain number of miles away from your fixed address. It generally covers things such as lodging, travel back home, and meals.
  6. Higher liability limits: With RV insurance, you typically have higher liability limits than you do with auto insurance. This is because RVs are larger than cars and have the potential to do more damage in an accident. With higher limits, you are offered better financial protection after an accident.
  7. Suspend coverage: When you store your RV, you have the option to suspend different portions of your policy (things which apply only when the RV is in motion). This is very cost effective; it keeps you from paying for unnecessary coverage.
